This interview focuses on Andy Wilkinson’s police career both in Lubbock Texas and Lakewood Colorado. He explains why he became a cop, his different roles on the force (including being part of the SWAT team), important Lubbock historical moments that he witnessed as a police officer (the Lubbock tornado, a 1969 race riot), and other situations he dealt with. He then discusses his move to Colorado, his work with internal affairs, and the differences in that environment. He also speaks philosophically about the role of police in society, the differences with law enforcement today versus in the 1970s, and the challenges those differences pose.
