Abstract
Lubbock Chapter, Conversation relates to previous interview, Eta Delta omega chapter, Harvey Ester Roberts, Margery Thomas, Netti Edwards, Ruth Presily, Vivian Cook from last interview passed away, Started in 1958, African Americans weren’t allowed to stay in the holiday inns or hotels then, Had to have all the paper work done to be established, The national office is in Chicago, They had to know everyone name on line, Had 11 on line, They were all made in college, They had to do something’s back then that would be considered hazing now, Sam Houston was a black college at the time, Back in 1952 Huston Tillotson was just known as Tillotson, Pin went up from $40 back then to $225, Clothes didn’t cost them a lot of money, Regional conferences, One held in Marshall, Texas, Could stay at the hotels in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1962, Election meetings going on, Worked on the by laws and constitution, In Dallas and Houston they have larger chapters, High school band director and Dunbar before principal, He played the saxophone, We have a picutre here of the entire original charter group, Started some of their events with sponsers in the 1960’s to raise money
