Brooke Baughman was a member of the Lady Raider basketball team from 2003-04 through the 2006-07 season. Her family has a tradition of high school and college basketball excellence and their social activities revolved around basketball. At Canyon High School she was coached by legendary coach Joe Lombard.. She was recognized as one of the nation’s top players by her senior year in high school and committed to Texas Tech coach Marsha Sharp early in her senior year. The Lady Raiders were 79-49 during her playing years and advanced to the NCAA Regionals her first two years.

Mom is Betsy Baughman; Girls Athletic Director, Head Girls Basketball coach, and elementary school teacher at Crawford, Texas schools; Seldom missed a Lady Raider game, she drove all night, to follow Brooks’ games, she never missed work; Dad is Scott, owns his own businesses; Her grandparents live in Granberry, they never missed a high school or college game; High School Basketball; Red Raider teammate Jolie Ayers is a cousin; Mom coached her AAU team; Played for Joe Lombard at Canyon High School; Won State championship her freshman and senior seasons; Played in tournaments in California and Arizona; Only loss in senior season came in Arizona to a New York team; Her Mom and Joe Lombard are her biggest mentors; College Basketball; State championship freshman was most memorable moment; Sheryl Estes was Mom’s college roommate; Committed to Coach Marsha Sharp at Midnight Madness; Took amazing trips as a Lady Raider; Loved trips to Australia and Hawaii; Completed P.E. practice teaching at Frenship and Lubbock ISD’s; Girls basketball is much faster, the girls are more athletic; Future Career Ambitions; Already starting to develop a coaching philosophy; Hoping to become a high school, later college coach; Wants to be as passionate as Coach Lombard when she coaches; Kent Griffin and Dr. Melanie Hart were her favorite teachers; Oklahoma State game her freshman year was her most memorable; The Lady Raiders had just won the #1 ranking; Texas was her favorite place to play away games; Hopes to coach somewhere in Texas after graduation; Coach Gerlich was the coach who helped her the most; Bob Knight was always supportive; Comments on her time at Texas Tech; Texas Tech’s fans have been very supportive; Baylor’s fans gave them a lot of trouble; Hopes to have girls who play hard, playing on her teams; Girls are getting stronger, taller and bigger in the future; Surfing in Brisbane, Australia was a big thrill; Playing in Australia was a different style of basketball; The girls wore tight fitting, single piece uniforms; College is a time when you really get to know yourself; Being a Lady Raider is a special experience; Daily Routine; Morning class, practice later; Practice times depended on the schedule; Eight hours of study hall per week was mandatory for freshmen; Marsha Sharp Academic Center was a big lift; Daily Routine (again); Asked for extra tutoring in order to make A’s in class.
