The interview begins with stories about dealing with stress in medical school and the birth of Dr. Heath’s son. However, the bulk of the interview focuses on Dr. Heath’s early career and the various fellowships he procured after medical school. Moreover, the interview details Dr. Heath’s military service. Dr. Heath’s experiences at Walter Reed General Hospital take up much of the discussion. As part of these recollections, Dr. Heath includes anecdotes about the Vietnam War, life in Washington D.C., and anti-war sentiments in the United States during the 1970s. The interview also discusses Dr. Heath’s various professional and military experiences in San Francisco, Minnesota, and Salt Lake City.
