She also explains the importance of education and her involvement with the National Hispanic Institute. She discusses working with Zenaida Aguero-Reyes on planning and funding the Viva Aztlan Festival including the impact Covid had on the event and how they positioned themselves so the event would suffer a minimal hit. Topics discussed included: attending Texas Tech as a first-generation student, and the importance of organizations in helping those unfamiliar with the academic world in transitioning from high school to a university setting.
