Abstract

Growing up, Alamogordo, Fiddle, Granddaddy made fiddles, Got serious about it when he was 16, Played it Mandolin style till he learned how to play the bow, Whole family musically inclined, Contests- No age group categories at the time, Music, Dance music, Country, Bob Wills, Mavericks, Elbow Jones (cousin), Bobby Jones (cousin), Ruby (sister), Full Time, Started playing music full time, Goes to New York to record, CD Baby, 1971, Dances not easy to sell, Concerts are easier to make money off of, Lounge, “Easier to find true love, then a good booking agent”, South Dakota to Alice, Texas, Singing, His voice finally changed, Turned deep, Scared to talk, but ok to sing, Learning, Rough learning to play the fiddle, Not like Texas- not very many fiddlers, Granddaddy- Break down fiddler, Southwestern Fiddle, Greater use for harmony, Improve, Add frill notes not written on the music sheet, But let the melody stay the same, He teaches guitar, fiddle, and mandolin, Johnny Gimble, Wife thinks Daugherty and Gimble sound the same, He works at getting the tone just right, Fiddle, Four strings, Three piece back, Children, Three girls, Three girls and one boy – Wife’s first marriage, All three of his play, Next step, Fiddle, Guitar, Bass, Drums, No vocals, New record, Wife, Been married for 15 years, Album, He has a lot of songs, People encouraged him to make a record, Heart to Heart Talk, Ali Banes- went on tour with him
