Telesforo Lara talks about his childhood, his family background, social and economical issues while growing up and working in different cities in Texas including Lubbock, where he resided after 1930.

Tape 1, Side 1: Lara Family; Started working in the fields when he was 7 years old; Other jobs Telesforo had; Discrimination changes after WWII; 1933, Guadalupe neighborhood; 3 different churches; Education; His and his brothers in Military service during WWII; Got married in 1949; Lubbock in 1930’s; First families in the Guadalupe area; First Mexican cemetery; 1912, first Mexican families set up in Lubbock.
Tape 1, Side 2: Telesforo worked for 36 years at the Lubbock Sanitation Department; Positive changes in the Hispanic community in the 1950’s and 1960’s; 1980’s, changes in the Hispanic community; He had 2 daughters and 3 sons; Different priests that have serve in the church; The new Mexican American generation; Traditions and celebrations.
