Sylvia Gann Mahoney discusses her family background and heritage, growing up in Levelland, Texas, and moving to Lovington New Mexico at age nine. She describes her childhood homes, her father’s farms, her mother’s traditions, and what her family did for entertainment. After she graduated high school and married, she and her husband moved to the Four Corners area of New Mexico, where she lived in a mobile home and raised her first child. Mahoney provides anecdotes of the neighboring Native American population and the general atmosphere living in that mountain region. She also tells about a childhood neighbor in Lovington (Uyless Black), trips she took with her grandsons, her interest in Russian literature and a recent trip to Russia with the Rotary Club, the assisted living community she lives in currently in Frisco, and stories of famous people she has encountered.
