This is interview number two of the series. Sylvia Gann Mahoney provides more stories of living in northern New Mexico, various family friends, and her brief encounter with then Prince Charles. She tells about her children and her thoughts on public education. The interview then shifts to discuss her returning to Lea County in 1961, going to a New Mexico Junior College and Eastern New Mexico University for her associates, undergraduate, and then graduate degrees in English. She provides teaching stories and educational philosophies observed while teaching in Hobbs. Then she explains her work at the junior college, teaching English and coaching rodeo. Interspersed are stories of her children, parents, and family in general. Mahoney also outlines a bit of the inception of the Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame. The interview ends with her meeting and eventually marrying her second husband.
