Abstract
M'Randa Miller talks to Juan Riera about her family's farm. She was born July, 6 1983 in Seymour, Texas. Her family farm is in Knox County in between Lubbock and Dallas. They farm 1800 acres of wheat and 60 acres of irrigated peanuts. Peanuts are not usually farmed in the area. They farm for profit and it is good for the soil. They also have 175 mother cattle which they raise to feeder level then sale to other farms that raise them from feeder level to slaughter. The cattle are mostly all grazing but they will treat them to a bale of hay sometimes. Besides the mother cattle they also have random cattle and they are 2 to an acre. The land is both owned by the family and rented. M'Randa's great grandfather came from Czechoslovakia around the 1930's. Dry farming is common. Irrigation is acquired from wells. Irrigation is not common in the area because of the cost and water availability
