Abstract

Tape 1, Side 1: his birth place and the education he received; the first time he migrated to the United States; Mentions different movements and stages in the United States and Mexico; his father’s migration to the United States; the conditions in the United States when he first migrated to the United States; his several deportations; young men who came back from the Vietnam War and became border patrol agents; about the treatment that Mexican immigrants received by deportation agents; different stories about his deportations and the ways used to come back to the United States illegally.
Tape 1, Side 2: his work at the newspaper company; his participation in labor unions and the strikes they would perform; the seasons for each crop and explains agriculture in detail; Mexicans’ work conditions in onion labors; conditions that the labor union was able to improve for agriculture workers; different companies that the union had to confront by means of strikes.
Tape 2, Side 1: strikes (cont.); the agricultural working conditions; labor camps; the living conditions in different states of the United States; the women’s position in the work force and the conditions they must endure at work; compares different labor organizations.
Tape 2, Side 2: different methods used to cross the border illegally from Mexico to the United States; the risks people crossing the border is confronted by and tells personal stories; different jobs that he had in the United States; his arrival to Lubbock, Texas.
