Book, Getting a book written about her, Leave something for her kids and grandkids, Ranch, Fidal Garcia, Took care of the ranch like it was his, Daughter took care of the ranch after that, Ranch Manager worked on the ranch most his life, Ranch land, Out in New Mexico, Ranching operations in Hart County, 3 houses out on the ranch, Time spent, Spent time in spring when branding and in the fall when they shipped, She cooked and washed, Provided food for 30+ men, Flight, Flew out in the queens, Life, Was born in Arkansas, From Harrison, Arkansas, Moved to Iowa then Missouri and finally to Plainview, Parents met in Colorado, Had relatives in Plainview area which is why they came back, School in Cotton Center in 1939, Used to moving around so not really hard for her to lose friends, Had a twin sister Wilma, 7 years older and 7 years younger, Named Hewitt and Delbert and another younger brother named Ernest, Drive down, Long with lots of mud, Hard on, No real hardships that she can remember, Settling down In Plainview, Joined a church to make friends, Finished high school at cotton center in 1939, Later life, Went to Leopards business school, Worked at western Union, Able to get a job right away after finishing college, Got married to her husband a few years later in 1942 they married, Younger Brother went into the service after World War II, Older Brother went to California, Husband didn’t have airplane license and crashed into field, Married in Clovis, When they went on their honeymoon it was shipping cattle to Kansas City, Hadn’t shaved and walked down the aisle looking gruff, Husband, Farming at Hart, Texas, Folks bought the ranks and he was helping them out, Flew a BT13, Cost more for gas to fly it home then going out to eat, Could land plane right in front of the house, During the week they would work and weekend they went into Plainview, Farm Wife, Won a war bond for collecting steel, Just collected scrap metal, Had to take care of the family, Husbands’ father used to come over for lunch everyday, Shot rats that were on the window seal, Shot them through the window screen, Killed ¾ before they noticed what happened, Spent 6 years in Hart before moving to Plainview, Met her best friends out there, Husband had a daughter that was 3 when they got married, Kept Wilda involved in school, Both her daughter and twin sister have died, Flying Farmers, All the women flew or knew someone who flew, Had to have a majority of income from agriculture, Yearly meetings in Texas, Had to have a license, First queen of the Texas flying Farmers, Her husband got involved in banking, Tapered off because of gas prices, Helped disabled children took them to camps, Basketball, Flew all around the US to play in basketball games and tourneys, Flew to games in Cuba and Mexico, Didn’t play basketball much herself but helped out with the games, Had help recruiting players for their team, Hutcherson, Husband passed away in 1977, Died in an accident, Remarried in 1987 to Harley, Received lots of recognition for helping the PE building at Wayland Baptist, Dedicated to them in 1971, Wayland Baptist, Helped contribute to lighting, benches, and interior, Used to beat the big schools, Got lots of girls that could play, Played pretty much professional teams, Won 131 games in a row before losing to an almost professional team, Very good at recruiting players, Marsha Sharp, Played on the Queen Bees
