Abstract
Born in Hall County, TX 03/06/1909, raised in Dougherty (near Floydada) on farm where they grew wheat, cotton, & some corn. Moved to Floydada in 1962. Married wife Zelma Rogers 10/19/29 in Clovis, 4 children. Worked as a mortar maker/ plasterer for many years, president of union. Had 8 brothers, lost 2 to pneumonia in infancy, 3 sisters. Around 1943- was a sharecropper for many years. Wife died in 1990., Depression: married in the Depression, no work- picked cotton, helped take care of friend's farm, sold eggs., In 1962, moved to Floydada- did yard work, drove school bus, postal worker., Mr. Richardson was ordained in 1973 as a minister for Primitive Baptist. Co-pastored in Lubbock at Primitive Baptist. In retirement, was a visiting preacher in many towns- Springlake, Amarillo, Wellman., Favorite Bible verses: Golden Rule and the Sermon on the Mount, "...visit the fatherless & the widows in their afflictions & keep themselves unspotted from the world", Started school in New Mexico then moved back to Texas. Went to school at Leatherwood, east of Crosbyton, nothing there anymore but a historical marker. Quit school in 7th grade to work on the farm.
