Barry Shollenberger was the head baseball coach at the University of Alabama from 1980 through 1994. He visited Lubbock for the July 1, 2010 induction of his former player Dave Magadan (1981-1983) into the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Their 1983 team was the runner-up to Texas in the College Baseball World Series
