At a Heritage Roundtable meeting, with Mrs. W. L. Broadhurst as moderator, Mrs. Struve talks about life in Abernathy during her family’s early days there. She closes the program by playing several dance tunes on the piano.

Tape 1, Side 1: First bank in Abernathy, Abernathy cheese factory, operated by Struves, First automobiles in Abernathy, Field hands dropped everything and ran at full speed to see a car coming through the countryside, Vin Stanbo’s home and store, Father had a share in a mercantile business, Saturday night dances held upstairs in old store, Early churches in area, Town Christmas tree was the big event of the year, One girl’s saddle came from the tree, Mrs. Struve’s sidesaddle, Girls wore long riding skirts to protect clothes, Sister-in-law was born in a dugout, Mail delivery, Family’s names, Played piano at Saturday night dances, Mrs. Struve plays for the Roundtable, End of session.
