New page

This interview features Hunter Heath as he discusses his childhood memories. The interview begins with Dr. Heath’s recollections about his mother’s family and his experiences on their family farm near Goodlett, Texas. The first section of the interview details farm life, agricultural practices, and Dr. Heath’s childhood stories. Also of note, are comments and anecdotes about religion and the Methodist Church in Goodlett. In addition, the interview provides many stories that speak to Lubbock culture in the 1950’s and 1960’s. For example, the interview makes comments about the strip (Lubbock’s alcohol hub during its dry years), Lubbock nightclubs, car culture in Lubbock, and the polio outbreak of 1955. There is also a few comments comparing the polio outbreak to the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020.
