Becky Matthews outlines her early life in Crystal City Texas including the La Raza Unidas protests she witnessed while in high school. She discusses her family roots in the Lubbock area, raising her children while pursuing higher education, and her interest in Texas folklore. She describes her time teaching at junior colleges, as well as how she homeschooled two of her children, how she values homeschooling, and how she used it to prepare her children for college.
