S. in 1850 and to Texas in 1870, Grandfather was a wheelwright, Cabinet maker in Brownwood, Porter’s father and Uncle Joe were in cattle business until bankruptcy, Father became building contractor, Early Brownwood remembered as being wild, Not allowed to play on streets called Battle Row, Infamous person—Booger Red, Father was close friend to banker Henry Ford, Porter gives evidence that Henry Ford and Jesse, James were the same person, Grandfather was Joseph J. Porter, a captain on General Lee’s staff, Mother was Annie Ward, Describes the house his father built in Brownwood, Description of stores and buildings in Winchel.
